Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Shrimp

Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Shrimp

Well, well, well, I’ve got a special treat for you this Monday morning: Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Shrimp. Yowzaa! These are so good! Not a lot can go wrong in this recipe. Hello — simple and homemade. They are probably the most addicting thing I’ve ever tried in my life. Also, thank you shrimp for being like 1 carb each. Can you say “binge snacking?”

It’s here, Super Bowl week is upon us. Can you feel it? Frying oil is flying off the shelf and temperaments are getting heated. It seems like everyone is just rooting for “Not the Patriots.” To each his own. I’m just rooting for the 9er’s to actually draft a quarterback in the first round. Please don’t screw this up for me!

So, the cool thing about this week is that my posts are all going to be Super Bowl snacks. AND, Friday, February 3rd, I’ll be on live television with KGW sharing the recipes for all the local world to see!

If I don’t screw it all up, I’ll link to the clip for all the people who aren’t in the Portland/America area. If I do screw it all up, I’m going black and hiding in my room for days on end. If Howard Hughes can do it, so can I.

In all seriousness I’m actually more excited than nervous. I’ve had years of practicing in the mirror for such a time as this. No shame. Plus, all my snacks are kind of amazing and I cannot wait for you guys to see them and try them out yourself!

Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Shrimp

These Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Shrimp have to be on your appetizer menu for next Sunday. I mean, they are so good! I made sure to get the opinion of a few manly tasters before I said that. They ate, they liked, and they approved. The Super Bowl isn’t a time for fruit salad and cucumber sandwiches. It’s time for meat, cheese, and spice.

These shrimp are power-packed with flavor and the recipe is seriously so simple. You make your homemade buffalo sauce (as spicy as you desire), toss half of it with the shrimp, and wrap them in half a slice of bacon. Place them on a rack on a baking sheet, and let those flavors bake together for pure deliciousness. Once they are all baked, I like to broil them for about 2-3 minutes on high to crisp the bacon. Brush on the leftover buffalo sauce and BADA-BING! All over his nice ivy league suit.

If you’d like to serve it with a dip, creamy, blue cheese dressing does the trick. However, they are perfect on their own. If you have company who needs a little something to cool off the kick, blue cheese dressing is the way to go.

Hope you enjoy! Until next time!

Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Shrimp

Your new favorite party snack is Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Shrimp. This appetizer is perfect for any occasion and super simple to make!

  • Author: Karlee Flores
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

24 jumbo shrimp, deveined and shelled

12 thin slices of bacon

1/2 cup butter

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup hot sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

Place the deveined and shelled shrimp in a bowl and set aside. Cut the bacon slices in half crosswise and set aside. You might need to cut the fat off the larger bacon strips so it’s easier to wrap around the shrimp.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

In a small saucepan on medium-low, melt the butter slowly until just liquid. Add the Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, garlic powder, and paprika to the melted butter. Whisk to combine.

Line a baking sheet with foil and place a cooling rack on top.

Pour half of the buffalo sauce in the bowl with the shrimp and toss together. Take a half slice of bacon and wrap around the meaty part around the shrimp and place on the rack. Continue until all the shrimp are wrapped.

Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes. Before removing from the oven, turn the broiler onto high and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the bacon start to crisp. If you don’t have a broiler you can skip this step.

Remove the shrimp from the oven and give a final brushing with the leftover buffalo sauce.

Serve alone or with creamy blue cheese dressing.

Notes

Add more hot sauce if you like it spicy! I wouldn’t use more than 1/2 cup total.
