Sweet Basil Avocado Sauce

Sweet Basil Avocado Sauce

Now here’s a sauce that’s power-packed tasty and won’t break the caloric bank, because its starting five is basil, honey, avocado, Greek yogurt and water. Yeah, that’s right. It’s as simple as that and as healthy as all get out but it brings liiiiiiiife to your food. So when you’re sitting out on your back patio sipping something cool, soaking in the rays and you start to get hungry after a long day of nothing? Make this sauce and food opportunities arise.

Have it on salads, on couscous (the food so nice they named it twice), on a fresh tomato sandwich, as a dip and pretty much anything else your summer stomach desires. There’s just something about basil. It has such a sweet-fresh taste that brings a brightness to almost anything I whip up. Then, when it’s settled with the creamy avocado? It’s like the food gods aligned.

For more crunch and texture, I’ve added pine nuts to this sauce, but it’s great without and smooth too. The pine nut version sits nicely on top of a summer bruschetta. Imagine the possibilities because they are endless. And you guessed it, it’s another 5 minute sauce. In no time you have a topping that will breathe new life into the most basic of entrées.
