Chai Croissant French Toast

Chai Croissant French Toast

Yes, you read that right, Chai Croissant French Toast. Yes, and YESSSSSS! That’s one way to wake up in the A.M. Also, can you even handle how beautiful all the strawberries have been lately? I…Just…Can’t. They are all over my breakfasts, in my lunch pail for snacking, and graced on dinner salads. So perfect.

Okay, but this recipe really isn’t about strawberries at all. They just happened to look so pretty propped on top of fresh whipped cream. These Chai Croissant French toasts are so delicate, decadent, and delicious. And, you DESERVE them. See what I did there? LOLZ. I’m too much. Okay, it’s basically a Chai-flavored French toast batter. The mini croissants soak in the batter for about a half-minute on each side. I fried mine up in some coconut oil to give it that extra boost, and DONE.

Fresh whipped cream is a must. I didn’t add any sugar. Pouring maple syrup on top is enough sweetness for me. But, the extra creaminess is needed and appreciated if you so choose. Hello — goodbye — don’t mind if I do. This stack would be amazing with any kind of fresh fruit you have on hand. It would also be, like, crazy-good in the fall with sautéed apples — SAY WHAT!?!?

Okay, I don’t know why, but I’m kind of in a goofy mood right now.

Insert smooth transition here — I took some time off of social media. Well, just enough to step back and regain some authenticity. I still posted, but I tried to stay away from looking at my feed. I felt like I was trying so hard to keep up instead of blazing my own trail. Which totally happens when we get stuck in that comparison/coveting/jealousy cycle. Blech. I was OVER IT. When I started to emerge and feel like myself again, I made these totally original croissant French toasts! WRONG! As it turns out, this has been done many times before. Pat on the back for staying ahead of the game, Karlee.

Even though this isn’t new to the world of food bloggers, I am proud to say I love my version. It is slightly sweet and has all the delicious warm flavors that I crave all the time. This recipe is really great for summer when there are amazing fresh berries that you can slather across the top. Stop me if this is getting too graphic. Truly though, I feel like these will SHINE in the Fall. There’s something about that time of year that makes me order a chai latte. Basics, UNITE!

In the spirit of trying to remain true to myself, my vision, my artistic passion, I’m going to post whatever I want. I will not worry about what is IN. I’m not going to worry if it’s been done. I’m not going to compare, and I am NOT going to overthink it. I’m just going to post whatever is on my heart and plate at any given moment.

So, Chai Croissant French Toast it is! Because, good morning weekend. Sleeping in and making these fluffy clouds of butter and carbs is all you need to start your day. Have it in bed while you’re reading the newspaper and drinking a coffee. See you all next week!
