My 28 Favorite Hallmark Christmas Movies

           There is, maybe nothing better than hot cocoa, a jammy set, the biggest blanket you can find, and watching a Hallmark Christmas movie. We can count on them. The plots always remind us of something we once read or saw. We simply do not have to worry about what’s going to happen, because we know what’s going to happen. Queue the final kiss and snow falling PLZ.

           2017 and 2018 is truly the peak of Hallmark Christmas to be sure.  And, 2019 was just a swing and a miss. Come through 2020! We need you! Which, since this week marks the kickoff to the new season, I’ll be watching all the new 2020 movies and posting my reviews onto my Instagram stories saved in my highlights. I’ve got you, friends. I’m here now. Don’t cry.

           So, the ranking. This is purely subjective to my likes and also based on what I watched. Each movie is ranked out of 5 snowmen (☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️). If it was a ☃️☃️ snowman kind of movie, I didn’t even post it because – why? There are a few Honorable Mentions that needed to be included though. It’s the count down to Christmas!

           How can I watch Hallmark if I don’t have the channel? Purchase a monthly subscription to Sling TV. Pick your channels and I’d recommend a plan that gives a DVR option. And yes, you can Watch Party with Sling!

           What about Hallmark Movies and Mysteries? No, there is only a few movies on this list that is from M&M that just had to be on because Candace. But, no, we’re here for escapism.

           Without further ado, here is the list of My 28 Favorite Hallmark Christmas Movies.

In bed watching hallmark christmas movies

Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade (2012) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

            The coats? The cloths? The cutest little actress? This is the movie that got me hooked. It’s a must mention. The thanksgiving parade coordinator has to convince a wealthy consultant about the tradition of the Thanksgiving parade, and why it’s more than numbers on a spreadsheet.

The Nine Lives of Christmas (2014) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️

           Cats!? Christmas?! Firemen? Yeah… This movie definitely makes my list. Yes, it’s 2014 and Hallmark hasn’t quite yet hit its stride, It’s definitely a fun watch. Also, cats. A fireman adopts a cat, or does the cat adopt him? He starts to wonder if the single life is all that he thought it was meowed up to be.

A Royal Christmas (2014) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️

            Gretchen (Lacy Chabert), you’ve done it again. The level of awkward and predictable in this movie is professional. The movie actually starts out with the two already in love, but will the expectations of royal life thwart their made-in-america-love? Will we still get a final kiss scene? You know what? I don’t think I ever finished it so, maybe.

Christmas Under Wraps (2014) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

           If you want cheese? This movie is a Charcuterie board. DJ has to do a residency in a town that acts suspiciously like the North Pole.

A Crown for Christmas (2015) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

           Make way for my favorite Hallmark Christmas movie! Like, I own it. It’s a classic tale – a poor female meets a rich/royal man – will this love save her family from destitution? Or, will another money-hungry-female ruin her chances? But also, that dress at the end?  Work it, Winnie.

Journey Back to Christmas (2016) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️

           Okay, it’s a Hallmark movies and mysteries. I’m sorry, but I had to – because DJ. It has time travel, it has costumes, it has a victory curl.

A December Bride (2016)|| ☃️☃️☃️☃️

            Always a bridesmaid never a bride. It has that one Hallmark Actor who looks like a caricature of Jensen Ackles – and he’s always a good time. To be honest, I really don’t remember much about this movie but I do remember that the lead was being a little long suffering. But there’s some baking. So, there’s that.

Broadcasting Christmas (2016) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️

            An ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend fight for the same broadcasting promotion on morning television (think – The Today show, wait, hallmark is owned by ABC so actually think – Good Morning America). And, yes that is Superman and Sabrina.

My Christmas Dream (2016) || ☃️☃️☃️

            A store manager (Winnie Cooper) is up for a promotion to Paris! Live, laugh, love yourself through her ambition and behind-schedule holiday display! Also, there’s a widower and his son – a good time ensues.

With Love, Christmas (2017) ☃️☃️☃️

            Okay, the leading man is a little… stiff. However, I can’t explain it. I loved this movie. Corporate America? Secret Santa’s? Cheaply decorated offices? Will they? Won’t they?

The Mistletoe Inn (2017) || Honorable Mention

            To be honest, I don’t really remember much about this movie. I watched it a while ago and they tend to all blend together in a sea of collared shirts under sweaters and red mixing bowls. What I do remember is there’s a writing workshop at a Christmas Inn and I was left with good feelings.

Christmas Next Door (2017) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️

            A bah humbug neighbor (AKA John Tucker) refuses to decorate for Christmas because one time a girlfriend denied his marriage proposal at Christmas? Seems a tad dramatic. Anyway, he ends up getting his niece and nephew for Christmas and has his Christmas loving, violinist neighbor help him entertain the kids. Side note: they didn’t even try to make it look like she really plays the violin.

Finding Santa (2017) || ☃️☃️☃️

           Stephanie Tanner is planning the town’s Christmas parade. She NEEDS to find a new Santa and employees an unwilling leading man to the role. She also makes a BIG deal about the secret ingredient in her egg nog – which is like, annoying TBH – it’s nutmeg, we all know it.

Switched for Christmas (2017) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

           What’s better than one DJ tanner? That’s right, two DJ tanners. Candace Cameron Bure has to be making serious bank from these movies right? I mean, if she’s in it, I’m recording it. Okay, but anyway the movie. Twins – one is a mom and the other is a designer-wearing-corporate-America type. They switch for Christmas, need I say more?

A Gift for Christmas (2017) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

           While you Were Sleeping but make it a hallmark Christmas movie – and also nothing like While you Were Sleeping. Also, the lead’s name is Darcy. Which I’ve learned is the lead character’s name in like 50% of these things. Okay, this guy has amnesia and this girl is a book worm. Do what you will with that.

Jingle Around the Clock (2018) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

           I’m going to be serious with you for a sec. There were a few times in this movie I actually forgot it had a $1000 budget. It was fantastic. Christmas parties, an amazing winter coat – it’s pretty much the Hallmark Christmas movie of your dreams WITHOUT the small-town guilt. In an unlikely meeting, two businesspeople set out to re-work a last-minute campaign for a line of cookware. Also, please note what the green bean casserole looks like going in the oven vs. coming out of the oven.

Christmas Made to Order (2018) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

            She’s trying to start a holiday decorating business of her own while juggling her full-time job. When Aaron Samuels, a Christmas newbs and chronic workaholic, unexpectedly has to host his family for Christmas, he hires her for all his memory making needs. And, yes, his hair looks sexy pushed back.

A Shoe Addicts Christmas (2018) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

           DEEEEJJJJ! Another DJ tanner hallmark homerun. A department store’s human resource manager and closet photographer (She keeps saying phurtographer and it drives me nuts) anyway – is visited by the shoe ghost of Christmas past present, and future.

Christmas at Pemberley Manor (2018) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

           I’m really not going to go too far into this one. It’s basically Pride and Prejudice. Literally. I mean, down to the names, guys. Like, I’m not joking. Take a turn about the room, ladies. It’s go-time.

Christmas Joy (2018) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

            This is where Hallmark really shines. She’s in line for a promotion, check. Needs to come home for the holidays, check. No parents, check. Former crush???? Check and CHECK.

Road to Christmas (2018) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️

           Chad Michael Murray, aka Luca Scott? I know I don’t need to say more but I will. Impending weddings, a snowy road trip, smoldering CMM eyes, here for it.

Christmas at the Palace (2018) || ☃️☃️☃️

            This one is a great filler. A solid movie to play in the background the day you decorate for Christmas. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll want to dust off your rusty ice skates. Okay, so, hear me out, Katie is hired by a King to help his daughter with her skating performance. The more time she spends in the castle and with the King, the deeper she falls for him. Like, what’s the problem though? Well, the people of San Senova might not be too accepting of an AMERICAN Queen. Rude, right?

Pride, Prejudice, and Mistletoe (2018) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

            Okay, so, Gretchen, right? She returns to her hometown and gets paired with an old rival to plan a charity event. And there’s, like, some family stuff thrown in there. Which is nice, but like, are we here for it? Absolutely yes.

Mingle All the Way (2018) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️

           A Christmas dating app for all those events single people have to go to with plus ones! Genius, right. And, yes, that’s Noel Kahn from Pretty Little Liars.

Write Before Christmas (2019) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️

            An alternate universe where Crazy Nanny Carrie and Lucas Scott end up falling in love. It also has a light homage to To All The Boys I Loved Before. Which, TBH, Noah Centineo is like, what? 2 years away from a Hallmark Career? Can’t wait.

Christmas Scavenger Hunt (2019) || Honorable mention

           Two ex’s team up for a Christmas Scavenger hunt only to discover, they broke up for a reason and probably shouldn’t give it another shot because statistically speaking, it probably won’t work out, and like, he’s not going to change and she’s certainly not going to stop nagging him about going for that promotion and making a name for himself, plus there was that one girl who he like, was totally flirting wi… wait, no. I think they fall in love again or something.

Christmas Town (2019) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️

            Okay, I don’t know how this one wasn’t on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. It’s a little… dark. But, one of Sabrina’s Aunts is in it. And like, some very heartwarming situations with a foster kid, and a late father. Also – DJ Tanner.

Holiday Date (2019) || ☃️☃️☃️☃️

           Okay, this girl has been the sister to SO MANY Hallmark leading ladies – she finally gets her shot and nails it. Her boyfriend breaks up with her right before Christmas and instead of telling her parents, she gets paired with an actor to play the role of her boyfriend so that she won’t ruin her parent’s dream Christmas. Parents and expectations, right? I think my favorite part is when the actor doesn’t know the carols they’re singing because he forgot to mention that he’s Jewish. But, the family ends up celebrating Hannukkah with him and it’s kinda sweet.
