Orange Blossom Marinated Cantaloupe

Orange Blossom Marinated Cantaloupe

Now is the time for a cool, refreshing bite of fruit that will satisfy your snacking needs to the point of no return. You’ll find yourself in your stretchiest pants and your hair in the highest possible formation, on the couch with a bowl of this energizing Orange Blossom Marinated Cantaloupe. It’s hard to put this snack down, which is good, because it’s basically just fruit kicked up a few notches.

This recipe has been a lifesaver for me. Yes me, the girl that only kind-of, sort-of likes cantaloupe and try as she might cannot get behind melon. Guys, I’m a work in process. But,there is nothing like the juicy, floral taste of a cold orange blossom marinated cantaloupe that comes straight from the fridge after a satisfying workout. By workout, I of course mean frantically cleaning the house in an effort to get right back to other priorities.

I’ve actually thoroughly enjoying this kind of workout. I do everything with such high intensity, speed walking, lunges to the vacuum closet, scrubbing the cabinets in sets of three, squats of piles of laundry and a cool down of cleaning the shower while I’m in it. In the hour it takes for me to do this, I’ve multitasked my way to a sweat and a clean house.

That deserves a reward of cantaloupe. That deserves a pat on that back and a job well done before you frantically and simultaneously forget and remember everything you need to get done today. Just me?

Yep, I’ve had so much on my mind as of late it seems like my sanity is slipping through my loosely gripped hands. I’m forgetting things that I never would have. I’m not on top of my game. It’s, in fact, slipped from a Steph Curry level game to a Drake-shooting-a-basketball game. Embarrassing.

So, here is what I’m trying to do to fix this: snack smarter, sleep better, and lighten my schedule. I say this because I know we are all here too. It’s graduation season. It’s the-sun-is-out-let’s-make-all-the-plans season. It’s Cinco de mayo season (hey, check out my Instagram for an awesome giveaway with Finex and Don Pancho BTW). It’s Memorial Day season. You get it. It’s the season of busy, plans, events, parties, open houses, bbqs—things I REALLY look forward to. Things that nevertheless crowd our schedules right out of self-care. You remember self-care, right? The few hours a day you need to take for yourself so you don’t bite the heads off of strangers?

So, this little snack might not fix this 100 percent. But, it’s a reminder to me to take care of myself. To fill my fridge with things that are going to help my mind stay focused. To take a few minutes to sit on the couch, eat a snack, and think about only things that are nourishing. Our time is precious, isn’t it? So, let’s fight for a little time for ourselves this week. Maybe, 15 minutes a day? I think that’s doable, don’t you?
